Room with a view

After a five day adventure in intriguing but relatively rustic Myanmar, noodlies, Sydney food and travel blog was ready for comfort and rest. Boy, was I ready for the bright lights of Hong Kong and uber comfort of East hotel.

But I wasn’t expecting the folks at East to spoil me with a harbour view suite on their top floor. Room 3004 was breath-taking, floor to roof windows with sweeping views of Hong Kong harbour allowing natural light to flood in. The first thing I noticed was that elegantly curved bath with jaw-dropping views.

Then I noticed the fluffy inviting bed, in the middle of the room to maximise the stunning vista. And then the practical blogger in me noticed the large work desk and a range of international power adapters.

Located in Taikoo on Hong Kong Island, East caters predominantly to the business crowd. If you’re a frequent traveller, you’ll notice how most business hotels offer the same ‘beige’ service, yes, the amenities and service are up to scratch, but it’s all, same-same. For some, predictability can be comforting, for others it might be boring.

East is not boring.

When noodlies instagramed photos from my suite, my followers immediately fell in love with… the green dinosaur. Everyone wanted me to bring it back to Sydney.

And that’s just the point of East, guests expect more than just hotel efficiency and familiarity, they want a bit of flair. That touch of flair is delivered at East, whether it’s the cheeky dinosaur or child-like fun of a swinging bubble chair.

East is a relatively new hotel and their flair is also reflected in the design; contemporary and stylish, ingeniously making capturing all of the available natural light.

Feast, the hotel restaurant basks in natural light and contemporary funky design. It’s a delicious place to enjoy breakfast or unwind for dinner.

By day or by night, Sugar, East’s roof top bar reminds you that you’re not staying at another ‘beige’ hotel.

East is located in the business hub in Hong Kong Island with Taikoo MTR conveniently located in the next building. The huge shopping centre next door means you’re close to all the main shopping stores in Hong Kong as well as some great food options too.
